Health professionals and healthcare consumers can agree on one thing: America’s Healthcare System is broken.

It is in financial crisis and has been for some time.  Before the Affordable Care Act, hundreds of hospitals were going out of business because of this crisis; this continues to be the case. While access has improved, some say this will break the system’s financial back. Others insist there is enough money in the system, it’s just being mismanaged: too much money on costly procedures, redundant testing and end-of-life care and too little on prevention.

Research proves the United States spends far more on healthcare per capita than any country in the world, but our outcomes are, at best, the same. What is standing in the way of creating a healthcare delivery system that is effective and financially sound?

Healthcare affects every American. The need for intelligent, informed dialogue has never been more imperative. We invite you to participate in Hilton Head Institute’s Courageous Conversations Regarding Healthcare Access, Quality Care and Affordability.

Friday’s program* will include presentations focused on the obstacles preventing our healthcare system from reaching its full potential, followed by panel discussions moderated to explore ways to overcome those obstacles.

The Saturday session* will explore ideas that have the potential to delay or lessen the looming Healthcare financial crisis with national leaders and industry experts in the healthcare field.
